Hello? Are you there???

March 25, 2008

I used to be really good at updating often. Now, it’s been about 2 full weeks since I’ve posted here. Mostly, all I have to talk about is work and teaching classes, so it’s not anything exciting.

Don and I went to Nebraska and started to nail down our wedding plans. We decided to have the wedding on October 31 (yes, Halloween, but before you ask- no, there will be no orange and black. It’s still a traditional service) at a national historic monument. We’ve sort of always had it in the back of our heads to have the wedding there since we saw a couple tying the knot there a year or so ago. It will be outdoors as long as the weather cooperates. According to the head ranger, it’s about 50/50 for that time of year in their area. We are currently working on a back up plan for an indoor wedding if need be. I need to make some phone calls, but we think we’ve got a pretty good idea. In addition, we got our Nebraska marriage license, chose a place to cater dinner after the service and collected info on area hotels. We also had time to hike around Chimney Rock, one of my favorite landmarks. In the past, we have just taken pictures from the lookout area, but this time we hiked all the way to the base of it.

We are in pretty good shape for wedding plans, I would say. I’ve already got the dress and veil, our flower girl has her dress, we picked out our wedding bands (Don’s already came in), we have our location, date, officiant… not bad considering it’s still 7 months away!!!
